There are many Canvas tools and integrations that instructors can use collect and/or grade exams digitally. Below you will find a list of tools available within Canvas.

GradeScope
Gradescope is a Canvas external application which can be used to grade paper-based, digital, and code assignments. You can also provide feedback to your students within the tool.
To use GradeScope in your course, you will first need to enable the GradeScope tool in your Canvas course site. Once GradeScope is available, you can use the resources below to set up your GradeScope exam.

Canvas Classic Quizzes / Canvas New Quizzes
Canvas provides an online quizzing tool that can both collect and score exams online. The current version of this tool - called Classic Quizzes - will eventually be replaced with the upgraded and more robust New Quizzes tool. Both tools are available for instructors to use in their course sites.

Canvas Assignments
Canvas Assignments are another great way to collect and grade exams digitally. With Canvas Assignments, students can upload their exams to Canvas and you can either download all student files to grade locally or you can grade the exams online through the Canvas SpeedGrader tool.
You can also use Canvas Assignments as a way to distribute grades for exams that do not require students to hand in digital work. By creating a no-submission or on-paper submission type assignment, you can create a column in the Grades area where you can enter and release grades to students for work not submitted via Canvas.
