Finding your courses

If you are actively enrolled in a course at Yale, your courses are automatically visible in your Canvas account. After you log in, your dashboard will appear. You should see many of your courses listed. If that is not the case, review our guide to find your courses.

Registration Period / Missing courses / Problems with registration

If you are not finding your courses in Canvas, you may not have completed the registration process for your courses.  In these cases, contact your departmental registrar or contact [email protected] for additional support.

Please also refer to the Registration Website for details, how-to help articles and deadline dates for registration period tasks.

What are the difference between the roles I have in my Canvas courses?

Role Description
Student You are a fully registered student for the course.  For Yale College students, this means that you have added the course to your Registration Worksheet.
Visitor You have been provided temporary access to the course.  For Yale College students, this means that you have added the course to your Canvas Worksheet.  Visitor enrollments will be automatically removed at the end of the add/drop period.
Auditor You are a fully registered auditor for the course.  You are paying to take the course and receive credit - but not towards a degree.
Guest Student You have been manually added to the course - likely to unofficially audit the course.  Guest Student enrollments are managed by and are at discretion of the instructor.
